Grants for students and young researchers

 

FEMS YOUNG SCIENTIST MEETING GRANT - The Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) in collaboration with the Organizing Committee provides 12 grants for Young Scientists attendance at the SAME13. The amounts of each grant is 350. FEMS requires that a Young Scientist Meeting Grant Applicant is: (1) a member of a FEMS Member Society, confirmed by any officer of her/his society; (2) less than 36 years of age at the closing date of the meeting; (3) an active microbiologist; (4) a presenting author of an abstract; (5) hold citizenship of a European country.

travelawSAME13 TRAVEL AWARD - The SAME13 Organizing Committe will make funds available for young scientists (up to 40 years old and not holding a permanent position) to assist in covering their travel expenses to attend SAME13. Also established researchers (but, in this case only from low income countries) can apply. The maximum grant will be of € 200 (Europe) and of € 750 (Rest of the World). SAME13 Travel Awards are open to students and to young scientists who are, at the time of the application deadline, no more than 5 years past the completion of their PhD. The applicant must also be the first and presenting author of an abstract submitted to SAME13. Application Letter should include: (1) Applicants name and full contact details, full mailing address, phone number and email address; (2) Copy of submitted abstract; (3, only for students and young researchers) Proof of student status or graduation date (copy of student identification card or certification of graduation); (4, only for students) Supportive statement from current supervisor; (5) Personal statement on why you believe the Committee should select you for an award.

SIPSIP STUDENTS GRANT - The Italian Society of Protistology in collaboration with SAME13 Organizing Committe provides 2 grants (consisting in 250 each) for students and young researchers presenting their work within the Special Session S2 "Protists – the better looking microbes: The ecological meaning of species specific morphologies". Applicants must be the first and presenting author of an abstract submitted to SAME13. Application Letter should include: (1) Applicants name and full contact details, full mailing address, phone number and email address; (2) Copy of submitted abstract; (3) Proof of student status or graduation date (copy of student identification card or certification of graduation); (4, only for students) Supportive statement from current supervisor; (5) Personal statement on why you believe the Committee should select you for an award. SAME13 BEST PRESENTATION PRIZES - SAME13 recognition and monetary awards (consisting in € 250 each) will be given to the most outstanding two posters and two talks presented by students at the SAME13. Presentations will be judged by the members of the SAME13 Scientific Committee on the basis of innovation, scientific insight, quality of experimental design and methods, clarity and effectiveness of presentation. There is no need to apply; all student presentations will be judged and taken into consideration for the awards. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday 13th late morning, after the Closing Lecture.
