Stresa, on the Western Lake Maggiore coast, is extremely easy to be reach, independently by the way you travel.

We warmly suggest you to reach us by train, in order to reduce CO2 emissions, but here you can find info also for other transports. Stresa can be easily cross by foot in less than 1 hour, and the train station is located a few hundreds of meters away from the city centre, the hotels, and the Congress Palace.

simplon line swissSTRESA BY TRAIN: Stresa is a hystorical station of tsimplon line italyhe Orient Express line, today Simplon Line, connecting Milan to Geneva, Basel and Zurich. Direct fast trains from many German, French, Belgian, and Dutch cities reach Milan through the Simplon and usually they stop in Stresa. Trains from Milan Centrale and Milan Porta Garibaldi to Stresa are scheduled every hour during daytime. From Milan Malpensa there is no direct train to Stresa: if you arrive there and you want to come to Stresa by train then you have either to go by train to Milan (40 minutes) or by bus to Gallarate (15 Minutes) where you can then catch a train to Stresa.

Timetables and tickets availabe either on (Italian Railways), on (Swiss Railways), or on the webpages of French and German Railways.

STRESA BY PLANE: Stresa's closest airport is the Malpensa International Airport of Milan (MPX). It is located about 45 km South. Once you landed in Malpensa the best way to reach Stresa is to take a ALIBUS coach. They run every 2-3 hours, and the journey to Stresa Ferries Port (City centre) takes 1 hour. A different company organizing coach services from Malpensa is Comazzi. Both requires online reservation of the seats.

From the other Milan airports, Linate (110 km, LIN) and Bergamo (145 km, BGX) the best way to Stresa is to take local transportation (city bus, coach) to Milano Centrale (train station) and from there catch a train to Stresa. The whole journey can take between 2 and 3 hours. Stresa can be reach by train in a few hours also by landing in Basel, Geneva, or Zurich airports.

STRESA BY CAR: Stresa is served by the A26 Highway, as well as by the SS34 (Simplon National Road). We suggest you the highway. If you come from south follow direction Gravellona Toce and take the exit called "Baveno-Stresa", then follow the indications Stresa (you will first have to cross the town of Baveno). If you come from North (Motorway from the Simplon-Domodossola, or National Road from Bellinzona-Locarno) follow indications for Milan. Suggested highway exit (if you take the highway) is always "Baveno-Stresa". To park in Stresa can be rather difficult, both because most of the park places are metered, and the time you can stay is pretty limited. Many Hotels offer a private park place for free upon request.
